A quick update on my life since I lasted posted here.
I no longer attend Stony Brook University. I transferred back to CSI and received all my credits back that I lost when I transferred to Stony Brook. Basically my overall experience there was a failure. it was a complete waste of my time. back at CSI I got accepted into the Social Studies Education program and just recently completed my 1st course this spring. I will be taking one more class this fall and then hopefully begin student teaching at New Dorp High School next spring.
I got a new job (finally left Abercrombie and Fitch) tutoring a 15-year-old kid in Jr. High. It was a beneficial experience, we got a lot of work done and I really feel that he learned a lot when he tried to, but most of the time I was struggling to motivate him. He is back home in Taiwan now for the summer so I don’t have a job.
This summer is by far the most productive summer of my life. I took a Cultural Geography class in June and I am currently taking my final semester of spanish now in July. my Cultural Geography class was by far the most interesting class I’ve ever taken. We covered topics such as population growth around the world and the negative affects it has on EVERYONE, we learned about global warming, the World Trade Organization, How the U.S is able to compete/crush all its competition by consistently breaking international trading laws by subsidizing its farmers, the effect of Corn as a result. The way this country processes its food, and how BAD it is for us. (1:3 Americans born after 2000 will develope Type 2 Diabetes,1:2 for minorities, mainly the ones from low-income families) and many more topics. I got a B+ in the class because I choose not to do 2 of the assignments, the Professor said that this class was an easy A for me but I got lazy and decided not to do it. besides.. it’s the summer, I was still getting use to working in the summer.
My current class is Spanish, Advanced Spanish, the class is great, I’ve only been there on time twice which is very surprising since I hate being late for anything, but I just can’t seem to wake up in time for this class! I am taking the same Professor for the 3rd time, really nice and caring guy, really helps the students out when they need it. my problem in the class right now is different from the other students, the other students have trouble answering the questions correctly, I have trouble understanding what the question is even asking AND when I do understand I have trouble answering correctly, I wish I had someone to talk to with in Spanish so I could practice.
I am currently waiting on a job at Citibank for a part-time teller position. I called the Branch Manager today and she told me that she didn’t forget about me and that she is only waiting until the end of the month when one of the workers will be retiring, which will then open up the position for me. Can’t wait!
A few last things before I go.
I gained about 30lbs this winter and peaked at 220lbs at one point. My weight is now down to 210lbs due to a lot of handball in April, May and June combined with working out consistently 4 days a week now. I’ve only started working out consistently for the past 2 weeks and already I am seeing results. I look bigger muscle wise then ever before but I know I still cannot lift anywhere near the amount of weights I did in High School which…is not really saying much anyway.
Well off to bed. Yo voy la playa manana con los amigos!
